Librarians for Fairness

A librarians association that advocates for academic balance in our libraries

We work to ensure that Israel's viewpoint is represented fairly in our libraries through books, periodicals, audiovisuals, online resources, and scheduled events.

Librarians for Fairness will also dedicate itself to opposing anti-Israel bias in our nation's public libraries and professional library organizations.

For the last twenty years, organizations have poured money and resources into libraries to encourage acquisition of one-sided materials, speaker series, exhibitions, and film festivals that have a decidedly anti-Israel viewpoint. Moreover, the American Library Association, as a result of the campaigns of a determined clique of hardcore anti-Israel activists within it, continues to single out the Jewish State for biased condemnations. This has been a red flag for many orgainizations, including the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and the Committee for Accuracy of Middle East Reporting in America (CAMERA).

As per the Library Bill of Rights (passed in 1948) libraries should provide the public with the information they need to form their own opinions about important issues. We believe that it is essential that libraries provide balanced collections. Libraries and professional library associations should not be taking sides in the Middle East Conflict. They should simply educate, making sure that information is fair, balanced, and without a political agenda. But that is not what is happening, which is why we now need Librarians for Fairness.

We will:

Educate about Israel and the Middle East
