Israeli President Shimon Peres will inaugurate the Israeli pavilion at this year’s Guadalajara International Book Fair during his state visit to Mexico at the end of November, Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement Thursday.

Israel was chosen as guest of honor at the event, which is the Spanish-speaking world’s largest book fair, and the world’s second largest behind only Frankfurt’s annual confab.

During the nine days of the book fair, the Israeli delegation will stage some 200 different cultural activities. Israeli Ambassador to Mexico Rodica Radian-Gordon said at a press conference this summer that the delegation will represent the greatest Israeli presence ever at a cultural event abroad.

Israeli writers expected to attend the book fair include Etgar Keret, Shimon Adaf and Eshkol Nevo. Other cultural figures who are expected to attend include Prof. Ada Yonath, Nobel Prize laureate in Chemistry and James Snyder, Israel Museum director.
